Information

Please read this information carefully before using your Spare Sun panel. Red light therapy is a safe, non-invasive wellness tool when used correctly. This page outlines who should exercise caution, how to use the panel safely, and the important distinction between wellness and medical use.

Who should not use Spare Sun

We recommend consulting your GP or healthcare provider before using the panel if any of the following apply to you:

You are pregnant or breastfeeding
You have been diagnosed with cancer or are currently undergoing cancer treatment
You are taking photosensitising medication — including certain antibiotics, antihistamines, or chemotherapy drugs
You have epilepsy or a history of photosensitive seizures
You have a known hypersensitivity or allergy to light
You have an active thyroid condition — avoid directing the panel at the thyroid area of the neck
You are under 18 years of age — use under adult supervision only

Eye safety

Important

Never look directly into the LEDs while the panel is operating. The light is not a laser, but prolonged direct exposure to eyes should always be avoided.

Always keep eyes closed or wear the protective eyewear included with your panel during facial treatments
Keep the panel out of reach of children and pets
If you wear contact lenses, remove them before facial sessions

Safe usage guidelines

Maintain a treatment distance of 6–12 inches from the panel at all times
Recommended session length is 10–20 minutes. Do not exceed 20 minutes per area per session
Do not use on broken, irritated, sunburned, or compromised skin
If you experience any discomfort, redness, or irritation during or after use, discontinue and consult a healthcare professional
Do not use the panel near water or in wet conditions
Do not cover the panel or obstruct ventilation during use
Allow the panel to cool for at least 10 minutes between extended sessions

Skin type considerations

Red light therapy is safe for all skin tones and types. However if you have particularly sensitive skin, we recommend beginning with shorter sessions of 5 minutes and building up gradually over the first two weeks. Darker skin tones may require slightly longer sessions to achieve equivalent depth of penetration — this is normal and not a cause for concern.

Electrical safety

The Spare Sun panel operates on AC 100–250V and is compatible with standard UK mains voltage
Do not use a damaged power cable — contact us immediately for a replacement
Do not attempt to repair or modify the panel yourself — this will void your warranty
Unplug the panel when not in use and store in a cool, dry place
